History of the "Swedes in the Weeds"

This was Edwin Johnson, the man who starter it all for this Muskie fishing family. This site is dedicated to his memory.

He always said he spent most of his days in the weeds looking for that one Fish, hence the name, Swedes in the Weeds.

Edwin Johnson, father and grandfather of this Muskie fishing family, started fishing Muskies in 1947, on the Chippewa Flowage in Hayward, Wisconsin.  Back then the Chippewa Flowage was one of the best Muskie waters you could find. The late 40s was also the time when world-record Muskies were being caught almost every year. It was there Edwin not only got into Muskie fishing but became focused on catching a world record. Edwin with his son Bruce caught some giant Muskies, one of which was a Minnesota State record. They also had encounters with record fish, that would change their lives forever.

Bruce's son Blake Johnson started Muskie fishing in 1989. He caught many Muskie's, but after raising a possible record size fish, he has devoted all his fishing time to catch and release a world record and complete his grandfather's quest.
